Michael Patrick Murphy’s “one two punch” on Spending.
- When you’re at war, don’t spend on fun and pretty. Governments do it, don’t you do it.
- Take care of spending on health and wellness first. Focus.
Government Wants People to Spend Money. What Happens When You Do?
- You must make more to spend more. This means more tax revenue for governments.
- You must also spend more to service, support, maintain and store the things you have.
- If you make less, you won’t have to pay so much in taxes and you won’t be as easily bounced into a higher tax bracket.
- Most people spend on chinese products more than American products increasing aid to the Chinese totalitarian regime and the military with their new deep water navy.
- Increases in taxes based on the higher incomes result in greater government bureacracy and waste.
- Increases in spending promotes environmental destruction, more waste and wars to obtain vital resources such as oil, lumber from rainforests, etc.

HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING (Less is cheaper, if not better)
“Keep the home around 78 degrees in the summer, 68 in the winter. Wear warm clothing in the winter, keeping blankets nearby. Isolate living to a few rooms where the vents are on. Keep the other vents turned down or off.”

RESTAURANTS (Keep eating out to a minimum, especially if you’re a lower income family)

WORKING OUT (Often, gym memberships are a waste of time and money.)
“While keeping fit improves the quality and length of life for most folks, It is important to be practical. Work in the yard and accomplish something. Walk or run with educational tapes playing. It’s cheaper with an iPod and using the free stuff.” Unless you’re Bill Gates, fire the housekeeper and the gardener and start doing it yourself. Imagine how your home would look if you applied one half to one hour per day to it!
Theory: The average gym membership is used less than it is paid for. Many subscribers pay and don’t use it at all! If you are knowledgeable, you can accomplish much of your fitness without paying for a gym and while getting the house clean or yard work done.
Yearly savings: Hundreds.
